What it costs here
The same metal plus 6% import duty and 3% GST. Neither comes back when you sell.
That difference is why the gold desk routes a holding through futures, a Sovereign Gold Bond or physical metal depending on how long you intend to hold it — the wrapper changes what you pay to get in and what you keep on the way out. It is an estimate built from published levy rates, not a quoted dealer price, and a jeweller adds making charges on top of it.
